Compatibility & System Requirements
Ensure your systems meet the requirements for running Cybee AI EDR agent.
System Requirements
Cybee EDR is a lightweight, kernel-level agent that runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It provides real-time protection with minimal performance impact.
Minimum Requirements
| Component | Windows | macOS | Linux |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU | 1 GHz dual-core | Intel or Apple Silicon | 1 GHz dual-core |
| RAM | 2 GB | 4 GB | 2 GB |
| Disk Space | 500 MB | 500 MB | 500 MB |
| OS Version | Windows 10 (1809+), Windows 11, Server 2016+ | macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later | Ubuntu 20.04+, CentOS 8+, Debian 10+ |
| Network | Outbound HTTPS (443) to *.cybee.ai | ||
Performance: The EDR agent typically uses <1% CPU and <100 MB RAM during normal operation. Scans run in the background with low priority.
EDR Setup & Installation
Watch this comprehensive guide for setting up and troubleshooting the EDR agent:
Windows Installation
Download for WindowsAfter Download: Download and follow the installation wizard!
Deployment: Use Microsoft Intune or Group Policy for automated deployment across multiple Windows devices.
macOS Installation
Download for MacAfter Download: Double-click the installer, grant Full Disk Access in System Preferences → Security & Privacy, and approve the System Extension when prompted.
Apple Silicon: Cybee is fully native on M1/M2/M3 Macs with optimized performance and battery life.
Linux Installation
Coming Soon
Linux support is currently in development. We're working on native EDR agents for Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, RHEL, and other popular distributions.

Learn more about Cybee's AI-powered behavioral detection at www.cybee.ai/products/behavioural-ai-edr
How It Works
AI-powered behavioral detection stops malware before signature updates exist. Traditional antivirus relies on known malware signatures, but Cybee analyzes behavior patterns to detect unknown threats.
Key Features
- Real-time Monitoring: Monitors file system, network, process, and registry activity
- Automated Response: Automatically quarantines suspicious files and kills malicious processes
- Low False-Positives: Machine learning models trained on millions of samples
- Ransomware Protection: Detects encryption behavior and blocks ransomware in real-time
- Fileless Attack Detection: Identifies memory-only malware and script-based attacks
- Rollback Capability: Can restore encrypted files if ransomware is detected early
Detection Capabilities
- Malware (viruses, trojans, worms, rootkits)
- Ransomware and crypto-lockers
- Spyware and keyloggers
- Exploits and zero-day attacks
- Suspicious PowerShell/scripting activity
- Lateral movement and privilege escalation
- Data exfiltration attempts
Troubleshooting
Agent Not Connecting
Symptoms: Agent installed but not appearing in dashboard
- Check internet connectivity (agent requires outbound HTTPS/443)
- Verify firewall allows connections to *.cybee.ai
- Check if corporate proxy is blocking the connection
- Restart the agent service/daemon
- Re-install with a fresh authorization code
Permission Errors
Windows: Run installer as administrator. Approve driver installation.
macOS: Grant Full Disk Access in System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Full Disk Access. Approve System Extension.
Linux: Run installation commands with sudo. Ensure kernel headers are installed.
Performance Impact
If you experience performance issues:
- Check CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager/Activity Monitor
- Exclude development build directories from real-time scanning
- Schedule full scans during off-hours
- Contact support if CPU usage exceeds 5% sustained
Compatibility with Other Security Software
Cybee can run alongside most security tools, but we recommend disabling built-in antivirus (Windows Defender, macOS XProtect) to avoid conflicts. Cybee provides comprehensive protection and additional AV is redundant.
